Interfaith Ministries

Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston brings people of diverse faith together for dialogue, collaboration, and service. IM works with 10 communities of faith, including Bahá'i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Unitarian Universalist and Zoroastrian. Together they provide the foundation upon which IM provides direct service, builds collaborative partnerships to serve seniors and refugees, and channels the faith community's preparedness and response to disaster. IM believes that through service and dialogue it is possible for very diverse people to come to know one another and to find common ground, while maintaining their personal beliefs and keeping their cultures intact.

Muslim-Jewish Dialogue:

The Institute facilitates a dialogue between leaders of Houston’s Jewish and Muslim communities in collaboration with Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston. This group:

  • Meets regularly to tackle the toughest issues behind the conflict in the Middle East and the impact of that conflict on Houston Jewish-Muslim relations.

  • Creates new levels of understanding between the participants.

  • Shows other members of communities in conflict that dialogue between both sides is possible and encourages additional efforts to reach for dialogue as an alternative to violence.

  • Fosters initiatives that not only deepen the understanding between other members of the two communities, but also proposes solutions to some of the intractable problems that exist.
